Research in Brief
My research goal is to understand the properties of small extrasolar planets (exoplanets), and putting Earth and Solar System into a context.A particular interest is in studying the surface environment of Earth-like planets, including the assessment of the possibility of life. Characterizing these small planets is challenging, because their faint signal is easily buried in its orders-of-magnitude brighter host star and, even if it is detected, interpretation of the data is not straightforward. We explore observable signatures of exoplanet atmospheres/surfaces that provide clues to the nature of the exoplanets, by modeling the atmospheric structures, simulating the spectral/photometric signatures, and evaluating the detectability.
